Cazarilh

In Cazarilh, the Saint John’s Eve brandon is celebrated between June 15 and July 15 (often early July), which is later than most other villages. The village council is responsible for the preparation of the tree, while the festival committee organizes the meal. A month or two before the festival, the tree is brought by a forester from the Barousse valley, and a day is devoted to splitting the trunk and inserting the wedges. The trunk is covered with straw on the day before the festival and the brandon is lit at dusk.
