Portraits

A municipal alderman, a chairperson of the festival committee, and a priest: three people, three points of view on the practice of burning brandons/hars, or halhars. These people are from different social strata and places, but all have powerful ties with the festival. Each one describes the symbolism and significance of an annual ritual that unites Pyrenean communities.

Vanessa Foltier (chairperson of the Izaourt festival committee), Vincent Boya (alderman of Esténos) and Father Arnaud Richard (rector of Bagnères-de-Luchon).
