In Ferrère, a tree is delivered and split a month before the feast, before being covered with straw on the day of the burning. On the evening of the festival, there is a meal for villagers, at the end of which the brandon is set alight. The brandon used to be called eth har in Occitan (Gascon), although this term is less used today. The village council, festival committee, and volunteers are responsible for organization. The festival usually takes place on the Saturday closest to St. John’s Day.
