Traditionally, the brandon is cut down and dried two months before St. John’s Day. It is split three weeks before the festival, and it is covered with straw and crowned with a bouquet of flowers the day before it is burnt. Formerly erected next to the Commandery of the Hospitallers of St. John of Jerusalem (in Hérontès), the festival is now held on a mound in the center of the village.
